Canvas Live

How do you create a virtual networking experience for executive meeting planners from different industries?

By connecting them to people they want to know and content they want to consume.

CANVAS partnered with LEO to debut their inaugural CANVAS Live in October 2020, live from Memphis, TN. The program focused on the purpose of meetings and events while addressing brand challenges with engagement; diversity, equity & inclusion; and much more.

 

Challenge:

The objective of CANVAS Live was to showcase Memphis, TN as a boutique, affordable destination with a special debut of the city’s $200 million newly renovated convention center. CANVAS Live was originally designed as a convention-style live event, with thought-leaders and industry professionals attending in-person from across the nation.

As a result of the pandemic, we had to quickly mold the experience to fit a virtual platform that could compete against a live, two-day event – all while selling the city of Memphis as a destination and keeping the attention of executive-level corporate planners.

CANVAS Live had to bring the magic, and LEO had to pilot the experience with creative execution.

Strategic Solutions:

CANVAS Live featured two days of keynotes from C-suite executives and national sponsors, including ALSAC, AutoZone, Walmart, The Home Depot, FedEx, International Paper, Terminix, Ducks Unlimited, and Merkle.

The content was engaging, and the sessions were broken up with “Breathing Room” breaks – one of which starred a desk chair yoga flow. CANVAS Live featured an interactive vendor expo that hosted dozens of brands, and Smart Meetings also held a live Q&A session, which brought an industry expert perspective to the virtual event.

The experience successfully marketed Memphis as an event destination by featuring local music playlists, murals from across the city, and a lobby rendering of the Renasant Convention Center, virtually debuting its $200 million modernization.
