Position Summary: 
LEO Events is seeking a Director of Meetings & Events to manage and execute successful meetings and incentive events locally, nationally and internationally, and generate events sales and new business development. Working with LEO’s production and creative teams, this position will lead mostly established accounts as the head planner. This position will consistently look for new and creative ways to maintain our competitive advantage in the marketplace. This dynamic position will work in a team environment to produce turn-key meetings and incentive events. Position reports to Principal and will manage one Coordinator in addition to the overall management of part-time event employees.

Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Events Related Responsibilities:

  • Business development and department growth on an ongoing basis including outside sales efforts and current client development
  • Expectation annually of meeting quarterly and annual company profit goals for department as set forth by the Principals
  • Manage one Production Coordinator, ensuring that they are properly managed, trained and that their execution of events meet LEO standards; including goal setting
  • Prospect and generate sales leads, perform sales calls, host and coordinate necessary site visits and FAMs
  • Work with the creative team to build capabilities, proposals and decks
  • Implement, in collaboration with Production team, a process to produce budgets and adequate staffing for events
  • Execute the sales proposal process including vendor negotiation and client negotiation as needed
  • Develop venue, attraction, and vendor relationships including annual due diligence meetings
  • Manage MarkoSoft CRM database
  • Assist the Principals/Controller with sales forecasting and financial reconciliation
  • Assist with marketing efforts and special projects as requested
  • Operate job costed positions as requested

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university in or a related field
  • Minimum 5+ years industry experience such as previous employment in corporate meetings and events, non-profit events, convention sales or services, destination management, hotel sales or services
  • Candidate should be knowledgeable of market and industry trends

  • Ability to travel (estimated at 25-40%) and work nights and weekends as requested

Environmental Conditions:

  • Employee required to spend a portion of time remaining in a seated position looking at a computer screen. Employee will be required to do some standing and walking. Must have the ability to life 50 lbs. Employee will be in a well-lighted, heated and/or air-conditioned indoor office setting with adequate ventilation.
