Business Development Coordinator

Position Summary: 
This entry-level position will support and enhance the business development (BD) strategies of LEO Events working collaboratively with the business development and creative departments for the execution of all sales and marketing initiatives. This position reports to the Marketing & Communications Director and works within a marketing team that consists of the Art Director, Communications Coordinator and Social Media Coordinator.

Essential functions are listed in order of importance. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Provide required support for the organization’s business development team, including master prospect list
  • Plan meetings, conferences and trade shows for BD team by identifying, assembling, and coordinating requirements, establishing contacts, developing schedules, coordinating mailing lists, executing registration, travel, booth coordination, and financial reconciliation
  • Develop and maintain company marketing and communications calendar for Business Development and Creative Teams, tracking status of deliverables
  • Develop and maintain client and prospect mailing lists; including sorting, qualifying, exporting and editing lists for e-news drops and company communications
  • Maintenance of the company’s CRM for database marketing efforts and customer journey as well as sales forecasting and reporting
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of business development plans and budgets by providing sales data, market trends, forecasts, and account analysis information
  • Monitor budgets by comparing and analyzing actual results against plans and sales forecasts; provide sales against goal reports for BD team
  • Source and evaluate opportunities for partnerships, sponsorships and advertising on an on-going basis
  • Implement sales, marketing and advertising campaigns and activate sponsorships as requested
  • Research to find background information on target markets, prospective clients, competitors, the industry and products as requested then organizing research findings into clear, usable information
  • Circulate all in-coming leads, vendor and customer service requests
  • Responsible for client gifts and giveaways (research, budget, recipient lists, fulfillment) with approval from/applicable coordination with Art Director
  • Responsible for BD promotional material needs coordinating requirements with communications coordinator and creative department; inventorying stock; placing orders; verifying receipt
  • Measure and analyze LEO company websites and digital efforts, and track LEO Events name consistently
  • Work with Social Media Coordinator to optimize search engines and regularly reports on SEO positioning, website traffic and social traffic analytics
  • Coordinate with outside agencies on projects as assigned and disseminate creative / art to Marketing & Communications Director and Art Director approval
  • Coordinate public relations activities as needed, including internal philanthropic initiatives as assigned
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading trade publications
  • Other duties as assigned as well as occasional on-site support of event team


  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, communications, tourism or relevant field of study, preferred but not required
  • 1-2 years event sales, administrative and/or digital marketing experience, preferred


  • The ability to work in a fast-paced environment and desire to learn are prerequisites for this job
  • Ability to coordinate projects, meet tight deadlines with quick turnaround, and multi-task with supreme sense of urgency and good time management skills
  • Possess strong attention to detail
  • Possess a passion for research and hunting for results; balancing being persistent with being appropriate, professional and timely
  • Possess strong writing and editing skills with use the use of appropriate grammar, spelling, and punctuation
  • Support the brand’s defined voice, tone, and nomenclature
  • SEO experience preferred, but not required
  • Ability to learn anything new quickly and be able to implement that new concept to a product in short turnaround
  • Technically savvy and strong computer skills using Microsoft Office, Dropbox, and more (experience in Mac and Keynote)
