WE ARE LEO EVENTS BECAUSE
“CAN YOU BELIEVE WE GET PAID TO DO THIS?”
WAS WAY TOO LONG OF A URL.
One day you’re hauling 200 truckloads of sand to a weeklong event, the next you’re coaching Al Gore on wowing an audience with PowerPoint animations. We love what we do because it’s crazy fun, incredibly satisfying, and always challenging. And, because a desk job would be soul-killing for all of us. Well except Julia, she’s our awesome accountant.
Like numbers? Here’s a few of ours from the past year.
ALL OF OUR EVENTS ARE MEMORABLE. SOME ARE ALSO LIFE-CHANGING.
Giving back, the best part of who we are. We’ve had the pleasure of working with some uber-famous people. We have gone to many insanely awesome places. We’ve thrown some of the world’s best events. But the thing we are hands-down most proud of is the work we’ve done that changes people’s lives. As a company, we believe in giving back. And the best way we can do that is to do what we do best to benefit the causes we love.
Throughout the years, we have volunteered time, donated in kind, and supported in a variety of ways those organizations, charities and causes that work hard to make a real difference in our communities. Some of those that mean a good deal to us are St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Habitat for Humanity, Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital, the National Civil Rights Museum, green|spaces and Sculpture Fields at Montague Park, to name a few. We are also proud to support the Jay Uiberall Foundation (JUF) any way we can.
LEO AND THE JAY UIBERALL FOUNDATION
This is a cause very near and dear to our hearts. And it’s because Jay was our friend and is still very much our hero when it comes to making a difference in the lives of those who serve in the restaurant and hospitality industry.
In 2010 after the tragic death of one of our beloved vendors, Jay Uiberall, LEO Events helped found the Jay Uiberall Foundation (JUF), a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that supplies over $75,000 annually in services to the restaurant and hospitality industry in Memphis, including flu shots for uninsured restaurant employees, a yearly scholarship to the University of Memphis Kemmons Wilson School of Hospitality & Resort Management, and funding for a culinary kitchen and programming in the inner-city where area teens learn to grow and cook food as a trade.
Since its inception, the Jay Uiberall Foundation has provided five college scholarships, 1,000 flu shots, a full-service catering/prep kitchen built from the ground up for Knowledge Quest, an after-school culinary programming for 150 teens. JUF is primarily funded through our annual golf tournament fundraiser “Play for Jay” as well as private and corporate donations annually. LEO Events Principals Cindy & Kevin Brewer are founders and board members of the Jay Uiberall Foundation, and LEO Events contributes over 250 volunteer man-hours annually to the organization.
